All our biodynamic composts and plant nutrition inputs are farm-made consisting of time tested doses of plants, minerals and animal manure to improve soil life. The farm supports the right balance of people, plants and animals. The indigenous cows are an integral part of our farming system and we grow our own fresh fodder, feed inputs, and encourage grazing. We do not use any external inputs, soil amendments, or animal feeds.
We follow seasonal growing patterns and crop rotation plans for best outcomes, especially since large sections of our land is rain irrigated. Green manuring, cover cropping, and companion planting techniques are followed to maintain soil nutrition and crop diversity. Our farm activities are planned based on the biodynamic lunar calendar and positions of the sun, moon, stars, and planets. It has been very important for us to stay in tune with the energies and vibrations on the farm, especially since we live on it. Our permaculture inspired landscaping works, rainwater harvesting & irrigation systems support the essence of overall sustainability and cost control.
Seeds & conservation of traditional, open pollinated and heirloom varieties has been our strength along the years. We save and use our own seeds each season, or procure them from reliable organic sources in the network. We are also expanding our perennial varieties as a long-term approach. We strictly do not use GMO or treated seeds. We also encourage Apiculture on our farm landscape given the amount of varieties we grow.
In addition we are constantly working on next generation design, renewable energy systems and data solutions that promote sustainability and will encourage the mindset of rural families to stay in the agriculture and sustainability related business. Our resulting goal is to promote biodiversity in the local landscape, and protect the earth, carbon and water resources to prevent pollution and contaminations.
