Solanum aethiopicum. This Ethiopian Eggplant variety was introduced to Italy in the 1930s, and has become the Red Eggplant of Rotonda, a small village in Basilicata – South Italy. Bright cherry-red fruit that tastes best when harvested green, flavor like a blend of eggplant, peppers, and tomatoes.
