Purple Hyacinth Bean (Chikkudu)

This climbing purple-green hyacinth or lab-lab bean is grown for its beauty as much as for its beans. The vigorous vine produces brilliantly colored purple flowers. The bean pods are flat, thick, curved shape, 2-3″ long. Can be eaten young or after the bean forms. Traditionally grown later in the season towards the end of monsoon. Less foliage and faster yields compared to the green variety.
